Who looks more real?: Touring Madame Tussaud’s Museum in Las Vegas

One time my friends and I were walking around Times Square in New York City.  Suddenly, one of my friends stopped and looked stunned.  I asked her what was going on.  She responded:  “You are not going to believe it but Samuel Jackson is in front of that building over there.  People are even asking for his autograph”.   I didn’t want to be mean because she was really excited.  However, I had to tell her: “Hmm, that is a statue, actually a wax statue”. She didn’t believe me and ran towards the crowd taking their pictures with “Samuel Jackson”.  She was heartbroken when she realized it was “really” a statue.  It was just bringing attention to the Madame Tussaud Wax Museum.

My friend got really confused by the statue.  Now, I want to ask you.  Do you think wax statues look real?  Have you visited this type of museum?

Last year, I had the opportunity to visit the Madame Tussaud Museum in Las Vegas (in the Venetian). Normally, I wouldn’t visit this type of attraction due to its high price.  Las time I was in Sin City, I bought a Power Pass Card which includes the entrance to most of the attractions in The Strip.  So, lucky me, I decided to pay a visit to all the stars in the museum (and have pictures with them, ahem!!).

Ok, so let’s have some fun. I have posted 20 pictures of some of the famous characters represented in the museum.  Which ones do you find realistic?  Which ones don’t even resemble a bit the real person?

I will include my opinion before each picture.

Brad and Angelina

Look real but there is something missing.

Jamie Fox

To me, the statue looks realistic.  This is one of my favorites.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Yes, it looks real. They captured his characteristic facial expressions pretty well.

Sean Connery

Looks real, maybe a little younger than he really is nowadays.

Justin Timberlake

Nahhhhhhhhhh

Eva Longoria

Another one of my favorites. Super close to how she really looks.

Tiger Woods

He is missing something.

Lady Gaga

Seriously, they did Gaga a favor.  Too pretty to be her. How does she look anyway?

Not sure if this is J. Lo or Beyonce

Who's this? Beyonce or J. Lo?

Gwen Stephanie

Looks real but Gwen Stephanie will be mortified if she looks at this.  Not her present posh look.

Madonna

Oh, yes.  Even the teeth resemble her.

Criss Angel

The body, yes. The face, no.

    • For some reason, they never get the George Clooney statues to look like him.

    • We kind of agree on which ones look realistic. I think they have to get right the eyes in order to get a realistic rendition. For me, the eyes are the most difficult part of the face to represent.

    • I have to agree with you. I went to the museum in London and the staues were so and so. I guess the one in Vegas has statues created more recently with better technology. That may be the reason why they look better.

    • When I visited the Madame Tussaud Museum in London, I freaked out a little bit. The air conditioning was not working well and there was certain humidity in the staues. It looked like some statues were sweating which, to me, made them look more real.

  1. I recently went to an exhibition of Marilyn Monroe dresses in bath with lots of photos of her and I’m afraid that doesn’t look much like her to me – Presumably this Madame Tussauds is run by the same folks that run the London one?
