The City of Dana Point (Orange County) hosted the latest edition of the California Wine Festival. This event voted one of the best in the U.S. in its class, gave attendants the opportunity to learn more about wine and top restaurants in the area while surrounded by music, sun, and palm trees.
The two-day celebration started Friday night, with 500 guests tasting rare wines at the 4-diamond Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa.
For the second day, the festivities continued at the Lantern Bay Park, where over 2,500 guests sipped and savored nearly 300 wines and dozens of gourmet food samplings. Artisan cheeses, bread, fresh-cut fruits, olive oils, and other delicious tastings were offered too.

California Wine Festival: Ambiance
Guests were able to enjoy the afternoon in a casual and relaxed environment. A live band, playing reggae, calypso, and other tropical rhythms, was in charge of placing everybody in a happy mood.
There was enough space to walk around and a good amount of shades to take a break from the golden sun rays.
Sponsors
Total Wine & More, the Diamond Sponsor, invited guests to their Pavilion to taste wines from around the world.
Icelandic Glacial Water was the official water sponsor and Sadie Rose Baking Company the bread sponsor.
The folks from Celebrity Cruises generously provided the beautiful wine glasses for the festival. In addition, they provided guests a goodie bag and the opportunity to win a Mediterranean cruise.
The OC Golden Foodie Awards sponsored the VIP Pavilion where appetizers from top local restaurants were served.
California Wine Festival: VIP Area
Here is a sample of what was savored inside the VIP area:
Maro Wood (assortment of desserts including a killer Meyer lemon panna cotta)
Slap Fish (crab and lobster rolls)
SeaLegs (scallop and shrimp ceviche)
Brio Tuscan Grill (strawberry and grapes salad and chicken quinoa salad)
Mick’s Karma Bar (beef slider with tapenade, pickled tomato, berry jelly, and cabbage)
Wines
As you can imagine, the wine offering was incredibly extensive. There was an opportunity to do an entire tasting (like in an actual wine tasting room) at each booth.
