2013 Bucket List: What I Want to Do and See

Today, I am sharing my 2013 Bucket List!

It is the time of the year when a lot of us make resolutions (even though we are in the middle of the month already).  Last January, I made a bucket list for the year and was very happy with what I accomplished.  I was able to do a lot of new things.

I enjoyed so much the exercise of creating a bucket list for the year that I have created another one for 2013.

“Bucket list” is just a name I am using.  In reality, it is ideas, dreams, thoughts list.  It is a place where I am recording experiences I want to try.  I am not worried about tackling every item on the list just because they are forced goals for the year.  This is more of a conscious effort to avoid getting stuck in the same old patterns.  This is a desire to keep growing by going to different places.

As I have said before, I am concentrating on local or close to home experiences.  I am not being unrealistic because I know my limits.

Remember you don’t need to go far or spend a lot of money to have a great adventure. All you need is to use your imagination and a little creativity.

Without further ado, here is my bucket list.

Around Los Angeles

Hike around Malibu

Go to El Matador Beach (in Malibu)

Hike a trail that ends in a waterfall

Eat in Little Ethiopia

Try new ethnic Chinese dishes in the San Gabriel Valley

Take the ferry to Balboa Island (Newport Beach)

Visit the Skirball Cultural Center

Try a new ice cream flavor

Participate in another food tour or foraging adventure

Pay a visit to the USS Iowa in San Pedro

Take a good look at Beverly Hills – I don’t even remember the last time we drove by.  I have never walked around or taken a good look at this famous area

Take a tour to see the Hollywood Sign up close

Eat at a shabu shabu restaurant

Visit Adamson House in Malibu

Go to the Gibbon Rescue Center

Take a cooking class

Close to Home

See wildflowers (Anza-Borrego Desert, Flower Fields in Carlsbad, Ridgecrest)

Go to San Juan Capistrano

Go to La Jolla (in San Diego County)

Go to Temecula

Go to Ventura

Explore more of the San Ynez Valley (Lompoc, Los Olivos, etc.)

Visit Crystal Cove State Park

Ride a balloon at the Orange County Great Park

Visit Laguna Beach Summer Festivals

Do the Laurel Loop Canyon at the Laguna Beach Wilderness Park

A Little Bit Further

Visit at least 1 National Park (Yosemite, Sequoia, Grand Canyon)

Visit Calico Ghost Town

A short trip to a domestic destination – Options include Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Santa Fe.  I already set up some fare alerts to see where I can go.

Where I Have to Go

Las Vegas – I know, I have to go again!  This time I am going to meet with my aunt who is coming from Puerto Rico for work reasons.  In fact, I am leaving tomorrow.  Let’s what new things I can do there.

International

Two international trips – Hopefully, I can visit a new country this year and it would be cool to discover a new region of Mexico.

Hope this gives you some ideas. But remember, ideas do not bring any change if they don’ turn into action.  Hope you have a fantastic year!

What new things are planning for 2013? Let me know in the comments section below.

If you get to even a few of the places on your list, it will be a great year! You can’t go wrong with any of the national parks you mentioned. They’re all awesome!
