The Magic of Big Sur

Last year, I published several posts about my road trip around the Big Sur area.

The posts had practical information and photos about certain stops or places along the route.  However, I feel life I left a huge gap in terms of recounting my experience.

See, a place like Big Sur, which stretches 90 miles along the rugged Pacific Ocean, is difficult to summarize or expose in a series of stops.

As a matter of fact, it doesn’t matter if you do not stop at certain landmarks, if you stop a hundred times or if you just drive the curves at lightning speed (not recommended when the ground is 400 feet below).

The steep cliffs, which shelter the sinuous road, the deep blue ocean, the turquoise coves, the white sands and the towering redwoods accompany you along the way.  And, believe me, they will left an indelible picture in your mind.

Since, the elements that conform the majestic scene of Big Sur are everywhere and not only in certain places where you stop to see them, I want to share in here those pictures I took along the road, in unidentified mile markers.

Hope you enjoy the trip throughout the pictures!

Such gorgeous photos! I love the California coast! Who am I kidding? I love any coastline, but there is something special about that particular stretch.

I think one of my most favorite trips ever was a Christmas trip I took up the California coast. I knew I needed to get out of town for awhile and the coast sounded absolutely fun. It was so beautiful. Thank you for reminding me of it and thank you for linking up with me again this week!

Oh my gosh, what wonderful photos! I love the ocean – but to see it meeting with cliffs would be amazing! Someday I’ll get out to the Pacific. 🙂

What a great collection of photos, Ruth! I love this part of California. It’s just so scenic. It’s been a long time since we made the trip up north. This is inspiring me to plan a road trip to that area again soon.
