Take a look at these wonderful photos of Tijuana’s Markets.
As you have noticed, my posts are loaded with photos. However, it has been a long time since I present a pure and simple photo essay.
This time I want to leave you with 30 photos featuring the markets of Tijuana, Baja California. The markets themselves are worlds full of colors, aromas, and sounds. I believe these photos represent with accuracy what you can expect when visiting these places.
Mercado Hidalgo – Tijuana’s Markets
This well-organized market is located in the posh Zona Rio. I highly recommend a visit if you are in Tijuana.
Mercado El Popo – Tijuana’s Markets
This traditional market is located Downtown. With time, it has become an icon of the city because of the variety of goods available.
Mercado Hidalgo Location: Boulevard General Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada, Zona Urbana Río Tijuana
Mercado El Popo Location: Calle 2da & Avenida Constitución, Downtown, Tijuana
I believe I have not to mention these are shopping paradises. This is especially true for food lovers. I recommend bringing enough money (cash) since you may encounter more than what you were thinking about buying.
If you have doubts about what can be passed to the United States, ask vendors. They usually have a list of what can be passed and whatnot. Every time we went to Baja, we grocery shop before crossing back home and have never had a problem.
There is a lot to eat in and around the markets. Visit hungry or with some space on your stomach. Some of the most legendary taco stands in Tijuana are located close to the Mercado Hidalgo. Do not miss Tacos Fitos, Tacos El Franc, and Mariscos Ruben. Mariscos El Paisa and El Negro Durazo are good too.
