When I moved to California, I ended up living several miles from the coast. My friends and coworkers were mortified by my decision of not living close to the beach. Being from Puerto Rico, spending countless days having communion with the sand and waves, I had no urge to set up residence near salty breezes.
One year after my move to the Golden State, for work reasons, I ended renting an apartment in one of the Beach Cities in Los Angeles County. Many, many years later I am still here, in a city called Redondo Beach.
It is official. I have spent my entire life living ridiculously close to the beach. In an ironic twist of fate, in California, I live closer to the beach that when I lived in Puerto Rico (and Puerto Rico is a small island). What can I say, the sand, the surf, the atmosphere have grown inside me. I am not sure if I can swap this physical environment for a different one. I must admit it is pretty awesome to drive to the beach whenever you feel like it.
Since I have never shared anything about Redondo Beach in this blog, it is time to give you guys a peek of where I go for long walks and astounding sunsets.
Here are photos of the Redondo Beach Pier at noon and at sunset. The place looks very different under different light conditions. Enjoy!
